Mananthavady: ‘Proper infrastructure facilities are essential
for higher learning and it is the right of the common man to have better
educational facilities in their own locality. Education is the key word for the
uplift of the downtrodden and the have-nots in our country’, Dr. M.K. Abdul Khader, Vice Chancellor Kannur
University opined. He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Academic Block and the modern Indoor Sports
Complex at the Mary Matha Arts and Science College, Mananthavady held on Thursday 10 October,2013. Christian
Institutions which have been rendering
excellent services towards the cause of education in the tribal belt of Wayanad is to
be lauded, Vice Chancellor added. Kannur
University would certainly give priority to the development of the higher education
institution in the tribal area that comes under the jurisdiction of the University,
he said. Our main objective is service
to the society and which can be met successfully by imparting education to all.
Students need to get exposure to the modern technologies and to utilize them in
the right perspective, Vice Chancellor added.His Excellency Rt. Rev Dr Jose Porunnedom, Bishop diocese of Manathavady and patron of the college blessed the newly constructed indoor staium and auditorium, His Excellency presided over the function.

Basheer also spoke on the occasion. Rev Fr Chandy Punnakkattu Manager of the College, welcomed the gathering. Principal Dr Raju George presented the Report on the Various UGC Projects.
